Two Large Cast TV Parody Plays

By: Susan Stepp

Age Level: Middle Grades to High School
Cast: 10-14 each, mixed
Time: 15 minutes each

Crazy action and clever dialog abound in these satires of typical TV shows. Includes: 1. My Meaningless Life -- A soap opera "General Hospital" parody with a greedy doctor and plenty of scandal. The "dead" patient is revived to find his real mother (or is it sister?) is nurse Chandler. Silly stuff. 2. Aunt Maggie’s Magical Garden -- A live children’s TV show goes from embarrassing to disaster when the vain, cranky hostess loses her cool. The children in the "audience" are smart-aleky brats, the guy dressed as Flower Fairy falls asleep and Ladybug is jealous of Aunt Maggie. When Queen Bee steals her line, chaos ensues. Great classroom or variety show material. Easy to stage.
