What Happened After Once Upon a Time

By: Alexi Alfieri

Age Level: All Ages
Cast: 8F, 4M, 11 F or M, flexible cast size
Time: About 60 minutes

A substitute narrator is called in on short notice to read from a stack of fairy tale books. But just as she (or he) begins each tale, the main characters show up to interrupt, complain, argue and dispute the story. These characters have their own dysfunctional personalities: Rapunzel is an insufferable diva, Cinderella turns out to be a clean freak, the Three Little Pigs are hypochondriacs, Little Red Riding Hood is a lawyer defending the Wolf and more. The chaos continues until the frustrated narrator finally breaks down. It’s up to the characters to comfort the narrator and explain what happened after “once upon a time.” It’s that everyone lived happily ever after, of course. A fun show for a large cast with many small parts. Simple staging.
